Pretty in White

This sad puppy was a Craigslist find I actually bought for myself…gasp! I really need some sort of buffet in my dining room and I thought I could transform this baby for just that purpose. Alas, I sold it before I could have my way with it. Not complaining, believe me. My client saw it just as you see it now and wanted it for her daughter’s bedroom in white and distressed.

I was bummed the majority of the drawer pulls were missing. They were so dainty and cute but I was able to use the top row of pulls. I filled the holes on the bottom six drawers, sanded, refilled, and sanded again to replace the pulls with knobs. It turned out nice and smooth, you would never know!

Here she is pretty in white…

I already have found my replacement “buffet.” You love it, I know you do. Ok, maybe not yet but you will. 🙂

We are off to Hotlanta this weekend for some fun with the babes and family. Wishing you all an awesome weekend!

October Workshop ~ Rustic Monagrammed Signs

We had so much fun last weekend up to our necks in burlap and rosettes now it’s time to gear up for our next workshop!

We will be salvaging some wooden pallets and making these awesome monogrammed signs. Ours will be more shabby and rustic as I share with you some distressing and glazing techniques. You can hang these anywhere…outside, inside, propped on your mantle…really anywhere it would make a nice personal addition.

This picture is one created by Michele at The Scrap Shoppe.

When you arrive I will have your sign assembled and painted a base color. You may choose from  black, brown, or white. I will walk you through the process of distressing and glazing. There will be a variety of stencils as well as your letter stencil to choose from when creating your sign. Then we will seal your masterpiece and call it a day!

November 12th ~ Christmas Wreaths

December 10th ~ Last Minute Christmas Gifts

Psst…tomorrow is the first day of Fall…woohooo! I am not excited or anything. 🙂

Hootie Hoo and a Tweetie Tweet

Remember this precious little owl table???

Well, it now belongs to a sweet little lady. Her mom loved the table so much she decided to decorate her new room around it. Whoa…do I feel honored! That is so cool! Mom picked out a cute Pottery Barn bedding set to tie in the owl and it’s array of colors. Lovely, isn’t it???

Switching things up a bit this week I have been working on a pair of canvases to add to the fun girly decor in her new room.
We decided on large 20 x 20 square canvases…love em’. I painted a soft chevron pattern for the background in my trusty Muslin White and Seashore Bud. The pattern doesn’t show up great in my pics but it definitely adds some interest to the background. Miss Owl and the Tweeties were next. I love the quilt for her bedding and all the different patterned fabrics. I wanted to replicate that somehow on the canvas so I pulled out my paper stash and found the perfect papers. I cut out leaves from my paper and adorned my tree branches with them. I am pleased with them and hope Little Miss Laurel will be too!

For all my workshop girls, I am working, working, working trying to get our event together. You can go ahead and mark your calendars for October 22nd though!

Wishing you all a blessed day!

Pottery Barn Revisited

Sometimes even the PB needs a little “umph.” These sweet little tables were commisioned to me to get a new look. The owners had a PB headboard and dressing screen in Desa Maize. They asked me to match up their little white tables to the Desa Maize color of their new pieces. I gladly took on this challenge. Equipped with my Bejamin Moore fan deck I matched up the color and we chose Despot Gold. Here is one of the tables before but after I had already disassembled it.

I sanded and primed with Zinsser. Painted 52 coats of paint…umm ok probably 3 or 4 but seriously I lost count. This color just required many coats. Next, I heavily glazed with dark walnut to match the other furniture. A couple coats of polycrylic and spray the hardware Leather Brown then wrapped this golden little set up.

Even though the first official day of Fall is not for a couple days it is already Fall at my house. These and all their golden pumpkiny goodness gave me the itch to get moving on my Fall decorating. It is my favorite time of year for so many reasons. One of my top favs is breaking out my comfy sweaters. Ohhh my weakness for sweaters. Loooove em’!

So the house is screaming Autumn is here and now I am just going to get going on a few more DIY projects that I will share with you all soon.

From this southern girl I’d like to say a big ‘ol…Happy Fall Y’all!!!

Workshop Wrap-Up

Tons of fun this morning with our Fall workshop! All the ladies did a great job and I love how each of them created something uniquely them. No two wreaths looked alike. We enjoyed some coffee and AWESOME muffins by Nonnie at Nonnie’s Meals To Go while we crafted. Yummmy!

Until next time…I can’t wait to show you my pumpkin-y tables. Bring on Fall!
