I found this little french inspired beauty on craigslist and I knew there was a pretty little lady under all the blue and pink sponge paint. Yea…you read that right. The look was well…special. She had good bones so it was worth a whirl.
The sponge paint look brings back memories of my childhood room. Bold pink with white paint sponged on. Wowza!
Sanded and primed she was ready for a bit of color. It seemed like a great dresser for a little girl so I went with Seashore Bud by Valspar for the color. It is a creamy color with a hint of pink. The drawer pulls were nailed in and while I could have taken them out I really didn’t see the need so I painted them as well. Then the mouse and I gave it a light distressing. Finally, I used a polycrylic to seal all surfaces with a paste wax finish for the top. Smooooooth as can be.
The drawers weren’t terrible but with all the frills of the dresser I thought they needed a little pizazz. I Mod Podged some paper in the drawer bottoms with a dainty little print in a pale pink.
The dresser has already found a new home with a sweet family. I hope their little girl enjoys her new dresser for many years to come.
Pool day with my kiddos today and finishing up a project or two. Loving Summertime!
